Tips for Mastering Client Communication in the Beauty Industry

As a solo nail tech of 8+ years, I’ve had my share of client interactions. Communicating with clients effectively doesn’t have to be intimidating, but I completely understand how it can be. My DMs are filled with “How to handle client situations and what should I say back to them?”

Which is why I thought this would be helpful, for your next encounter with a client when you feel like you have no idea what to say…Feel free to use these examples below for your own use, but also don’t forget to leave me a comment especially if this blog article helped you out, so I can be sure to provide you more helpful tips.

Client Communication 1: My prices are too low, and I need to raise my prices how do I say it nicely so it doesn’t sound harsh?

“ Announcement for the month of {month prices will be raised} as many of you may know, I will be transitioning into my new prices. Officially starting {date} there will be a price increase. Nail art will be (price) also depending on difficulty, timing, gems etc.. Nail services will increase by (price). Thank you all for your continued support! Any questions feel free to DM/Call me, can’t wait to see you at your next appointment “

Client Communication 2: When a potential client sends in a nail Inspo and it may not be your style of art, do you still try to do it or can you say you don’t do that?

“Hey [Name] I’m sorry but that isn’t my style of art, if you want something like that we can do something similar but make sure you have a back up just incase it doesn’t turn out the way we want it to”

Client Communication 3: How do I tell a client that the cut down isn’t apart of their service, and it’s an additional cost? ( can be swapped out for another service)

“Hey [Name] are we keeping your nails or cutting them down today? I just wanted to let you know, that a cut down is an additional cost added to your service.”

Effective communication is key to building strong relationships with your beauty clients. Don’t let communication be scary between you and your client. The more you communicate with them, the better. It helps build a strong relationship and also helps keep your clientele growing and steady when you can effectively communicate with them.

Additionally, it's important to set expectations for each appointment so that you and your client are on the same page. Let me know your thoughts below.
