Holding Beauty Professionals Accountable

The beauty industry is a growing, booming fast-paced industry. Finding the right stylist for you can definitely be challenging but how much more are you willing to pay for an unforgettable service rather than a mediocre service?

Being in this industry I’m always comparing myself to stylist I see with not only great work but how they handle themselves professionally. You would think I would get top tier service since I myself work in the same industry but I’ve come to a realization that these stylist are who they are no matter who they’re servicing. So what is the beauty standard? And why do we keep going to such unprofessional people? I’m here to tell you let’s hold them at a higher standard and hold them accountable!

-Tips are appreciated but not required.

Just letting it be known I start tips out at 20-25% for inconveniences in my service I drop it, sounds harsh but how else will I hold you accountable? Now I’m not dropping someone’s tip if they’re 5,10 or even 20 minutes late because I know first hand things happen sometimes beyond our control. But 30 minutes and after is a big NO for me. I would never do that in my own business and when it’s happened to me multiple times I was mind-blown. ( I’ve waited 30min to 2 hours for a scheduled appointment)

-Scheduled appointment, no problem

You ever walk in the door for your scheduled appointment and the stylist isnt even there yet? Whew, I know some of you are nodding your heads right now. I can relate too, sis! I couldve sworn I scheduled for a specific time, so why isnt my stylist here? Great questions, let’s hold them accountable. What about the appointments that get moved back an hour or two in the same day as your scheduled appointment? We have all gotten that “Hey Boo!” text on the day of our appointment. Welp, I hope you don’t have plans because they just inconvenienced them. Rescheduling is sometimes required. A lunch or breakfast may have made your stylist sick or maybe there is an emergency with their kid that they need to pick up. Life happens we get it, but if the rescheduling is a frequent thing like every time to every other time your appointment comes along, Houston we have a problem.

-Value

How does your stylist make you feel?  There are many emotions we may face when dealing with a stylist who doesnt value us as clients. Such as anxious, angry or frustrated and feeling this way isnt normal, just know there is a stylist out there who values YOU, your time, and the fact that you show up for each scheduled appointment.

I will forever hold each stylist I encounter at a high standard because I believe each service whether its your first or 50th you should be treated like the Gold you are because like I’ve mentioned in my previous blog. Having clients is what its all about, so don’t take them for granted!

I would love to hear about the experiences you’ve had with any stylist whether it be a nail tech, hairdresser, lash artist, waxer etc. No name dropping but lets chat and spark a great discussion. Even if you have an amazing stylist I would love to hear about them too, because they need the recognition.

With Love,
