Millennial Marriage
Married life I believe with the right person is so beautiful. Sure it has it’s ups and downs but what doesn’t? Just like anything else marriage is a journey, but with the right person that journey is so beautiful, so deep and loving.
I’ve been married to my husband for 5 years to my amazing husband Keenan. He truly has been such a blessing to me and has helped me grow into the woman I am today. I’ve been with him since I was 19 which basically has been my entire adult life. We’ve grown with each other throughout this life in so many ways.
Where we are today in our marriage is a blessing. We have a beautiful daughter together and also have a 6 year age gap just incase you were wondering how far apart in age we are. I still remember the day I sent him a facebook message asking if he was talking to anyone and if not to shoot me a text and guess what!? He Did!
My associates at the time thought I was nuts for sending him a facebook message but I can’t imagine life without him by my side so thank God I did. We were together for 6 years before he asked me to be his wife and man oh man was I happy when he asked. He took my daughter and I on a vacation cruising to Bermuda and popped the question.
What I’ve learned throughout our time of being together is making sure you always have each others back no matter what and honesty is key. Always putting one another first and compromising when we aren’t able to see eye to eye.
1. Prioritize Communication: The Bedrock of Relationship Success
One of the most powerful lessons is the importance of open and honest communication. In a world where digital devices often compete for our attention, setting aside time for meaningful conversations is crucial. Whether it’s discussing daily events, expressing feelings, or planning for the future, maintaining a dialogue helps both partners feel heard and understood, fostering a deeper connection.
Nowadays I see many people facing the challenge of even finding someone they want to be with forever and honestly it makes me so sad to see that. I truly believe there is someone out there for everyone (but you must be willing to compromise.)
2. Embrace Flexibility: Adapt to Life's Changes Together
Life is unpredictable, and flexibility is key to surviving it’s twists and turns. Whether it’s a change in career paths, relocating to a new city, or dealing with unexpected challenges, embracing adaptability can strengthen the bond between partners. By facing changes as a united front, it demonstrates resilience and a shared commitment to the relationship.
3. Cultivate Shared Goals: Build a Future Together
Whether it's planning family vacations, saving for your child’s education, or dreaming about retirement adventures, having common aspirations helps keep the partnership focused and motivated. Working towards these goals not only brings a sense of unity but also creates lasting memories and a shared vision for the future.
Social media has taken over and created such a huge false reality that it’s hard to even trust the person on the other side of the screen, to know if they’re acting and speaking with integrity. I have clients and friends who struggle to find someone genuine who is willing to sacrifice and love them unconditionally. Where are my girls supposed to find their true love if they can no longer trust what they’re seeing is actual truth or a false perception of reality?
In conclusion, millennial marriages, like any other, require effort, understanding, and commitment. By focusing on communication, flexibility, and shared goals, couples can navigate the complexities of modern life while nurturing a loving and resilient relationship. Whether you’re newly married or celebrating years together, these actionable tips can help you build a strong foundation for a fulfilling partnership.
