Opening Doors For The Next Generation

NDU At LCCTC - March 10th 2020

As a nail artist, I wanted to share my love of Nail Artistry with a group of students in the community. My team and I thought it would be a good idea to reach out to the cosmetology students at a local career and technical center in New Castle, Pa.

This was an excellent experience for both them and myself! They were very engaged and had many questions about my entrepreneurial journey. The main take-away that I wanted to ensure the students grasped was that they are on a great path by attending their technical school, but in order to take full advantage of their skill set, they must continue to perfect their craft and learn from each life lesson.

At the end of my short presentation, we did a short lab demonstration where I showed them how to perform an ombré nail design. They were so amazed and got so excited because their school prom was coming up soon. Looking back, I’m beyond happy that I got the chance to speak with these young, soon-to-be techs. It gave me the chance to reflect from my past, when I was at their age. The biggest difference between them and I is that I was self-taught and didn’t have anyone to ask questions and guide me along the way. One of my goals for those students is to take down that barrier and help lay down the path for the next generation of nail techs in my home town and beyond.
