Nail Care At Home
Nail care after you leave your nail appointment is so important! Especially if you’re not one to always keep your regular appointments or you prefer going a little longer in between each appointment. Here is some advice on how you can take care of your nails at home to help keep them strong and healthy while you’re not in the salon.
Cuticle Oil
Please tell me your using cuticle oil…no like seriously. You should have a bottle of cuticle oil to use on the daily and its one of those things we know we need to do but still don’t take the time to do it. Your nail tech isn’t just preaching for you to use cuticle oil just because they like saying it. Your nails need it, just like your teeth need brushed every morning which is why you should just place your bottle of cuticle oil right next to your tooth brush to help you remember. Make cuticle oil a priority and your nail tech and nails will be thanking you.
Nails Are Jewels Not Tools
Stop washing your dishes, hire someone to do it. That would be nice but not very budget friendly, I get it. Just kidding but seriously have you ever thought about wearing gloves to do your dishes? Your nails are an investment which is why you should always want to protect them. Constantly having your hands in water on top of not using your cuticle oil daily is a disaster waiting to happen. Another thing you would need to keep in mind is that after having your hands submerged in water I would wait at least 20-30 minutes before doing anything strenuous because your nails will be softer from being soaked into the water which will cause them to break easier.
Hand Cream Not Lotion
Hand creams will keep your hands moisturized better than a lotion will. My favorite hand cream is Nivea. Its so thick and last so long even after I wash my hands I can still feel it nourishing my skin. Also I wouldn’t only use a hand cream, or just a lotion to moisturize your skin. A hand cream+cuticle oil combo will keep your nails lasting longer than not using it. Trust me you’ll be thanking me once you consistently start using that combination together.
Remember your nails are an investment so help protect them no matter if your cleaning up around the house, at the pool for the day or completing your workout. Your nails are jewels and not tools.
