How To Vacation During A Pandemic

Hey Girl! I know I’m not the only person who was dying for a vacation during a pandemic. Why do I know this? Because I took a family trip to Cancun, Mexico and there were so many other families standing in the hotel check in line grabbing their room keys.I’ve received so many questions about this vacation so let me fill you in on how to vacation during a pandemic.

Traveling in the airport pre-covid was always crazy but during the pandemic it was so chill! I know you’re probably thinking how, But if you really think about it a lot of people are scared to travel during such an unpredictable time. Masks were required upon entering the airport. Security checkpoints didn’t take longer than 5 minutes to get through and the food selection in the food court was minimal. The airline we boarded was a different story. They didn't necessarily practice social distancing but luckily for my family we all sat together so we didn't have to worry about any strangers sitting next to us.

Our plane ride was pretty quick, well, to me because i always sleep during plane rides no matter how long or short the trip is. When we arrived In Mexico and found the hotel bus drivers, we were greeted with a small gift that was placed in a bag as big as those yellow bubblegum candies from back in the day. ( Gold Mine bubblegum nuggets, okay let me get back to the conversation I’m digressing)Which included hand sanitizer and a mask to wear. How thoughtful of them, as if we didn't already have enough cleaning supplies that we brought along to disinfect on our trip. But seriously, they were on top of their game! We also were required to be sprayed before we got on the bus and our luggage was included in the sanitizing. We were required to have our temperatures checked along with hand sanitizer before entering the charter bus. Talk about safety first! That made me feel so good to know they were taking so many extra steps to make sure everyone was safe. I’m sure they were taking extra precautions to make sure their guests were worry free with minimal distractions.

Hotel Exacret, (https://www.hotelxcaret.com/en/) what a beautiful resort. My husband planned the most amazing trip to the perfect place. There was so much for us to do and we didn't even need to leave the resort. This was an All Fun Inclusive resort, in which I've never been to something like this before. All of our excursions were included on top of our drinks! The hotel was amazing and the staff was so friendly and very welcoming. They even greeted us with cool towels to help us cool down from the heat and gave us popsicles! Our room and the view we had, was truly breathtaking. All around the hotel they kept up with sanitation and made sure everyone was practicing social distancing and wearing masks. My family felt so safe and comfortable.

Can we talk about food on vacation!? It's always the best eating on vacation and indulging in the most amazing food. I guess you can say I am sort of a foodie. Buffet style food on vacation gives you so much variety. Say goodbye to grabbing your own food, someone is there to pick it out for you. I didn't mind that at all. Can you imagine my five year old trying to pick up a piece of watermelon from the buffet table? Yeah, that would be a disaster waiting to happen. The many other restaurants we visited were pretty normal. We still wore our masks to the table and also when we were greeted by the host. While at the table, we were not required to wear our mask just like back in the states.

Vacationing during the pandemic wasn't bad at all, except for wearing a mask everywhere you go. Mexico can be a bit hot like over 100 degrees hot, but even my daughter had little to no complaints while we were on vacation which was amazing. We were still able to enjoy ourselves and have fun all while being safe! You can still live the life you want to live to some extent even with a pandemic going on. We loved our vacation so much we booked another trip to go back this year! Talk about a good time :) Thanks for taking the time to read how to vacation during a pandemic and know that you can be safe while traveling.
