Love is in the air! I always get so excited this time of year because it means one thing: it’s time for Husbayy and I to pack our bags for our annual Valentine’s Day trip! Normally, he loves keeping our destination a mystery (he says it’s part of the fun), but this year, he spilled the beans a little early—and let me tell you, I’m counting down the days! Since 2017, these Valentine’s Day getaways have been such a special tradition for us. Not only do they give us the chance to escape the daily hustle, but they’re also the perfect way to reconnect, share uninterrupted quality time, and make memories we’ll cherish forever. I’m sharing some of my favorite moments from past trips to inspire your next adventure or get those wheels turning for your own romantic trip or girls getaway!

Puerto Rico 2017
2017: Our First Lover’s Getaway – Puerto Rico💕✈️
Back in 2017, my husband and I kicked off our annual Valentine’s Day trip tradition, and the first stop? Puerto Rico! We were young, in love, and soaking up every moment of that beautiful island. 🌴✨ This was one of those trips where my picture-taking skills weren’t top-tier (don’t judge, lol), but the memories? Unmatched! Lorren didn’t come with us this time, and I missed her like crazy, but starting this tradition in such a cute spot made it all worth it. From the colorful streets of Old San Juan to the breezy beach vibes, this was the perfect way to set the tone for years of romantic getaways together.
2018: Our First Winter Wonderland Escape—Iceland ❄️✨
Newly engaged and ready for adventure, Husbayy and I packed up for a winter getaway to Iceland, and let me tell you—it was one for the books! 🏔️💍 We don’t care where we go, as long as we’re together, and this trip proved that. Landing at night in the freezing cold was already an experience, but that drive? Whewww! Pitch-black roads, barely any streetlights, and us trailing behind another car just to make it safely to our stay. 😂 It was also our first time in an Airbnb, and I was lowkey paranoid about hidden cameras (girl, I was not used to this!), but the place was so cozy and futuristic—heated floors, a built-in towel warmer, and the perfect hot tub situation. There’s nothing like stepping into warm, bubbly water while that crisp Icelandic air hits your face. 🥶🔥 Cozy, romantic, and a little too exciting at times—this trip was definitely one we still laugh about today.
2019: City Views & Road Trip Vibes—Toronto 🚗✨
By this time, Canada was already our lil’ getaway spot, but this was our first time in Toronto, and let me tell you—it was a whole vibe! 😍 One thing about me? I love a good road trip—music vibing, snacks on deck, and quality time with my man. 🥰 We stayed in a high-rise condo right in the city, and waking up to those skyline views? Chef’s kiss! 👌🏾✨ The funniest part of the trip? This wild poop emoji-themed café we stumbled into—don’t ask me why we went, but just know it was an experience, lol! 💩😂 Oh, and it was freezing (Canada never disappoints with the cold), but at this point, we were getting real comfy with the Airbnb life and loving the space and freedom it gave us. Toronto definitely set the tone for more city escapes in the future! 🏙️
2020: Family Vibes & Beachside Living—Dominican Republic 🌴☀️
This year, we switched things up and brought Lorren along for our Valentine’s Day trip, and while it was a whole vibe, we quickly realized—this tradition might need to stay adults only going forward! 😂 Don’t get me wrong, the trip was so relaxing, and we had our share of fun—zip-lining at an adventure park had us feeling like pros! But the real MVP of this trip? The beach. 🏖️ Our Airbnb was right on the water, and Lorren was obsessed—I mean, sis was out there from sunup to sundown, building sandcastles, moats, and living her best little beach life. 🏰 Meanwhile, I was sipping something tropical and taking in that ocean breeze. 🌊😌 It was a beautiful trip, but next time? Husbayy and I will be keeping it strictly Lover’s Lane! 💕😂

2021: Luxury, Lobster Pizza & Letting Loose—Mexico 🇲🇽🍹
Now this trip was giving luxury & vibes from start to finish! 💃🏾✨ We switched it up and stayed at both a resort and a boutique hotel, and honestly? Best decision ever. Two different experiences, both serving nothing but good energy.This was also my first trip post-boob job, and babyyy, at two months post-op, I was still a little swollen but feeling snatched and brand new! 😂🙌🏾 Between lounging in paradise, devouring the best lobster pizza, and getting wayyy too drunk (but in the best way) while laughing and loving on my man, this trip was everything we needed. These getaways let us truly tend to each other—no distractions, just us. 🥰 Oh, and our first time at Hotel Xcaret? Whew, the second they greeted us with cool towels and popsicles, I knew we’d be bringing Lorren back for a family trip. This was one for the books! ✨
2022: Mud Baths, Magic & The Best Coffee Ever—Cartagena ☕✨
Every Valentine’s Day trip is special, but Cartagena? Unforgettable. 💛 From climbing that steep hill to sink into a mud bath together (such a wild but fun experience! 😂) to indulging in some of the best food, this trip had it all. And with Encanto having just come out, I swear I could feel the Disney magic in the air—the vibrant streets, the music, the culture—it was like stepping right into the movie, but with my real-life fairytale love. 😍✨ One thing about me? I’m a coffee girl. ☕ And usually, when we travel, I struggle to find a good cup, but Cartagena came THROUGH—best international coffee I’ve ever had, hands down! 🙌🏾 Every trip with my husband reminds me how strong and everlasting our love is, and looking back at our pictures from this adventure just makes me feel even more blessed to have him by my side

2023: A Dreamy Escape Made with Love—Antigua 🇦🇬✨
Valentine’s Day trips with my man? Always top-tier. 💕 This time, we touched down in Antigua, I had no idea just how breathtaking this island was! I mentioned wanting to visit, and my romantic husband made it happen (as always). He’s the one who books and plans our trips, and the way he loves on me through these experiences?Ugh, I just adore him! 🥰 This time, he set up a double stay, so we got two different vibes—first, a cozy little cottage with the sweetest staff, and then we moved to a beachfront stay right by a viral photo spot (you already know I had to get my shots in! 📸✨). Antigua was something out of a movie—the views were so unreal, like a painting come to life. And to top it off, we met a couple from Toronto who we actually kept in touch with for when we visit again! Another trip for the books, another reminder of how blessed I am to have a man who loves me like this.
2024: Lost Phone, Found Memories & Another Love Adventure 🇲🇽✨
After over a decade of Valentine’s Day adventures, we found ourselves back in Tulum, ready for another unforgettable trip. But this time? It came with a little unexpected plot twist—Husbayy lost his phone! 😩📱 Imagine being in another country without your maps, reservations, or travel details—wild, right? But my man? He handled it like a champ. 💪🏾 He didn’t let it ruin our trip, and instead, we turned it into an adventure within our love adventure—navigating together, problem-solving, and learning just how important it is to have backup plans. Lesson learned!
Despite the hiccup, Tulum still delivered all the vibes—stunning beaches, incredible food, and the magic that always makes this place special. As I look back on over 10 years of Valentine’s Day trips, I’m just so grateful for the love we share and the memories we’ve created. And now? It’s time for our next chapter.
