A Ralph Lauren Inspired Celebration
My Baby Shower Recap:
When I tell you this shower was a dream… it really was. 💭 From the moment I walked into the Ralph Lauren Coffee Shop in Chicago months ago, I knew I wanted that cozy, chic, classic vibe for my baby shower. And my mom (aka hostess of the year 👏) brought that vision to life in the best way possible. The decorator she hired did a fabulous job at bringing my vision to life, straight from my Pinterest board to the shower.
If you’re planning your own shower, here’s your reminder that choosing a theme that feels so you or matches the season instantly makes everything feel more intentional and memorable.
🍼 Hitting the Third Trimester (Already?!)
Hello, third trimester! I swear, when you first find out you’re pregnant, the days feel slow like, “will I ever start showing?” slow and then after week 12 it’s like someone hits the fast-forward button. Suddenly you’re registering, picking out outfits, and celebrating with everyone you love. It’s the greatest feeling to have such a great village.
🥂 The Guest List & Vibes
Our shower was big, beautiful, and full of love we had about 75 of our closest friends and family there (plus some of my favorite nail clients, because let’s be real, they’re basically family at this point).
And this wasn’t your average baby shower. It was coed, which made it feel more like a true celebration than just a traditional shower. The guys hung out, laughed, and enjoyed the wine + wine slushies, while I sipped my lemonade and soaked it all in. If you’re on the fence about inviting the dads-to-be and friends, do it. It really makes the day feel like everyone’s involved.
🍽 The Brunch Menu (Because Food is Life)
I’m such a breakfast girl, so brunch was the only way to go! We had:
🍗 Chicken + waffles
🥓 Sausage & bacon
🍳 Scrambled eggs & grits
Blueberry parfaits + fresh fruit
🍪 Assorted cookies + cupcakes (vanilla, almond, and cinnamon!)
Everything was delicious. And yes, I did eat a dozen caramel cups before the shower even started (no regrets). By the time it was over, there wasn’t a single cookie left — which honestly, felt like the highest compliment.
🎲 Minimal Games, Maximum Fun
We kept games simple — no marathon gift bingo here. We did just a few with some prizes so everyone could laugh together but still have plenty of time to chat, eat, and just hang out. If you’re not a “shower games” person, this is a great way to keep it chill but still interactive.
🎁 Skipping the Gift Opening (Best Decision Ever)
Instead of opening gifts at the shower, we decided to spend that time connecting with guests. Best. Decision. Ever. If you’ve ever been to a shower where gifts take two hours to open, you know what I mean. It let us focus on the celebration — and trust me, we had enough presents to fill four cars by the end of the day!
🌸 Soaking in the Moment
The best thing I did was let my mom take the lead on planning. It kept me from stressing, let me just show up and enjoy it, and honestly — I will never forget how loved we felt that day. Baby Lincoln is so loved already, and he hasn’t even arrived yet.
💌 Your Turn
If you’re planning a shower (or helping a friend with theirs), I hope this recap gives you some inspiration! Think: a theme that feels personal, a menu that fits the vibe, minimal stress, and plenty of time to enjoy your people.
